From all of us on the GWL Skatepark Corp team to all of you, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings! We’ve taken many strides since our Public Forum back in June when we first announced plans for the new GWL Skatepark in memory of Dale Hirrel, and we’ll be taking many more strides in the coming months. We’ve witnessed first-hand the strength of our community when coming together for a cause, and we believe that bringing...
Hey GWL Skatepark supporters, you’ve got two more chances left to get those last-minute Christmas gifts for the skaters on your list and support the GWL Skatepark at the same time. We’ll have a booth at the performance of “A Magical Celtic World of Christmas” Wednesday, December 20th from 7-9pm at the Greenwood Lake Middle School with all of our new merchandise for sale. If you’re not able to attend that performance, we have a handful of dedicated volunteers who will also be setting up...

It’s been far too long since we posted about the many amazing events and good deeds that have been moving GWL Skatepark Corp closer to our fundraising goal. There were several events since our last posting in August, but we want to start by thanking Joe and Maureen Anthony of The Irish Whisper for planning, organizing and hosting the Lepre-con Pub Crawl back in September. 68 people attended and a number of local establishments participated by hosting the revelers. Participants were ferried...
The Greenwood Lake Reunion 2017, which is organized by local resident Tony Danato, was held Saturday, August 5th at the Elks Lodge. The event included food, drinks, a band, a DJ, free photos and video streaming of interviews with those in attendance, door prizes, souvenirs, activities for kids and charity competitions. This year Tony decided to also run a 50/50 raffle through which the event’s guests could rally to raise money for the GWL Skatepark! The raffle initially raised $280...
Today Blaise Gomez from News 12 Hudson Valley visited Greenwood Lake with her cameraman to interview the GWL Skatepark crew and get the details of our exciting project! The interview took place at the proposed site at the northeast corner of the field at Ben Winstanley Park, and they even got some footage of our Veep, Kurk Koziel, skating down the sidewalk. We hope this kind of publicity will...
Since the installation of the first GWL Skatepark #DoItForDale donation boxes in Friendly Beer & Soda, Kwik Mart, and the Village Vape Shop, we now have close to twenty donation boxes installed in various business across both Greenwood Lake and Warwick, NY. The donation boxes have been successful due in part to our board member George Berger of the Village Vape Shop and also of
Thank you all for waiting so patiently for the launch of our new website! It’s a humble beginning, but our intention is for this site to be the main hub of information for the entire process of the fundraising, skatepark design, and skatepark construction phases of the GWL Skatepark in Memory of Dale Hirrel. Read through the site, give us your feedback, and let’s start this journey together. There are many features still coming, including the ability to make a donation online,...
Skateboarding is fun … no doubt about it. Taking the steps to incorporate a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity in order to build a concrete flowpark-style skatepark … less fun. We speak from experience. Gladly, we are happy to announce that the GWL Skatepark Corp. is now officially a non-profit corporation (pending approval), so if you know a friend who’s dad has a cousin that works at a giant corporation, and that friend’s dad’s cousin may have a soft-spot for skateboarding, BMX, etc., send them to us. Tell...
GWL Skatepark launched it’s Instagram account, and we’re looking to see all your skateboard, bmx, scooter and inline skating escapades. Check us out, follow us and we’ll return the favor! Our inaugural post was dedicated to our beloved Dale Hirrel, and there will be more surprise posts celebrating the life of our good friend Dale. We’ll also be flooding our Instagram with images and videos of our our own love of the sports of skateboarding, bmx, scooters...
