The 1st Annual DoItForDale Skate Contest was a huge success! First and foremost the GWL Skatepark Corp. would like to thank the multiple sponsors … Mountain Creek, Stimulus skateboards, Vans, Junior’s Skate And Sport, LLC, Burton Snowboards and Nimbus Skate for providing amazing prizes for the competitors who skated/biked/scootered hard in memory of their friend Dale Hirrel on the anniversary of his passing. We’d...
Our efforts are now reaching as far as San Fransisco! Thanks so much to DLXSF for helping us reach the followers of your brands (close to 42,000 of them on FB!) … helping us reach more skaters/riders in even more states like this will certainly help us reach our fundraising goal sooner than later. Deluxe Distribution was originally founded to distribute the Beware Record label and various small record labels popular with skateboarders, along with Supercush Bushings...
We held our second information session, the GWL Skatepark Public Forum 2.0, for Greenwood Lake and the surrounding communities this past Thursday, March 29 at the Elk’s Lodge in Greenwood Lake, NY. We had a large turnout, with a few special guests including Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer, Warwick Town Supervisor Mike Sweeton, and Warwick Mayor Michael J. Newhard. During the presentation we shared all of our recent successes and progress over the second half of 2017, then announced our plan...
It was a busy week for GWL Skatepark Corp. leading up to Easter, starting with a celebratory ribbon-cutting at the newly installed sign in CVS field marking the location for the future GWL Skatepark in Memory of Dale Hirrel. Many local residents and business owners attended the momentous event for our effort, and News 12’s Blaise Gomez aired a nice clip, giving GWL Skatepark Corp. the added publicity we really need. The sign serves as a point-of-reference for...
Volunteerism is a way for individuals and groups to make a specific contribution by generating well-being for people and their communities. We’ve been inspired by the number of people who have stepped forward to volunteer for the GWL Skatepark project during our early fundraising efforts. Today we’d like to highlight and thank in particular a special young volunteer whose singular efforts not only raised over $200 for the skatepark but also served to remind us that the youth of Greenwood Lake...
From all of us on the GWL Skatepark Corp team to all of you, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings! We’ve taken many strides since our Public Forum back in June when we first announced plans for the new GWL Skatepark in memory of Dale Hirrel, and we’ll be taking many more strides in the coming months. We’ve witnessed first-hand the strength of our community when coming together for a cause, and we believe that bringing...
Hey GWL Skatepark supporters, you’ve got two more chances left to get those last-minute Christmas gifts for the skaters on your list and support the GWL Skatepark at the same time. We’ll have a booth at the performance of “A Magical Celtic World of Christmas” Wednesday, December 20th from 7-9pm at the Greenwood Lake Middle School with all of our new merchandise for sale. If you’re not able to attend that performance, we have a handful of dedicated volunteers who will also be setting up...

It’s been far too long since we posted about the many amazing events and good deeds that have been moving GWL Skatepark Corp closer to our fundraising goal. There were several events since our last posting in August, but we want to start by thanking Joe and Maureen Anthony of The Irish Whisper for planning, organizing and hosting the Lepre-con Pub Crawl back in September. 68 people attended and a number of local establishments participated by hosting the revelers. Participants were ferried...
The Greenwood Lake Reunion 2017, which is organized by local resident Tony Danato, was held Saturday, August 5th at the Elks Lodge. The event included food, drinks, a band, a DJ, free photos and video streaming of interviews with those in attendance, door prizes, souvenirs, activities for kids and charity competitions. This year Tony decided to also run a 50/50 raffle through which the event’s guests could rally to raise money for the GWL Skatepark! The raffle initially raised $280...
