Hello GWL Skatepark community. We’ve got many amazing updates to share! Here’s the latest scoop:

Funds update: Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve raised over $107,000 in CASH towards the design/construction of GWL Skatepark! That money is safe in the bank. Though our original goal was $300,000 we had to increase that target to $375,000-$400,000 after challenges posed by the pandemic, mainly to ensure we create a skatepark that truly rocks!

Grant(s) update: We’re thrilled to announce that Senator Skoufis’ presentation at our 5K run back in September was for only one of TWO large grants we’re actively trying to finalize with DASNY! Work continues behind-the-scenes to finalize both grants before we can bill against any funds, but we are actively doing so. This major boost will certainly accelerate our progress.

Designer spotlight: We’re currently in talks with an incredible candidate to help lead the design update & construction of our skatepark. Last week GWL Skatepark welcomed Tito Porrata of The Platform Group to walk the site along with our VP Kurk Koziel, Mayor Matt Buckley, DPW’s Brendan Kolezar, and Jamison Zajec whose office represents GWL as the village’s engineer (all pictured). Tito and Kurk also had a meeting with our former mayor, and new Warwick Town Supervisor Jesse Dwyer. All meetings went extremely well and we’re all SUPER excited about finally bringing our skatepark to life and creating a hub in honor of Dale Hirrel for the community to come together.

Construction goal: With all the current developments, we can’t think of a better time to start construction of GWL Skatepark than this year in conjunction with the Centennial celebration for the Village of Greenwood Lake! We are overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement as we look back on the incredible day we had at the first ever Do it for Dale 5K Walk/Run fundraiser on Sunday! 😊🙏 Your enthusiasm, support, and unwavering commitment to our cause continue to be truly inspiring.

We'd also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped organize this event. Your dedication ensured that the day ran (mostly) smoothly, and we are immensely grateful for your support.

HOORAH! Do it for Dale 5K is tomorrow! Haven’t registered yet? No problem … we’re accepting walk-up registrants tomorrow morning $30. 8AM registration/check-in, 9AM race starts. Not a runner? No big deal. It’s a Run/Walk and we have many registrants walking the course. Come out tomorrow and support GWL Skatepark’s final push. We’ve extended our early- bird registration to Friday, September 1st! Register early for $25 and get your complementary T-shirt on race day. After 9/1 and up until race day, registration goes up to $30.

As a reminder, this is a Run/WALK 5K. You don’t have to be a runner to support this event … so please call your friends, register for the event to support GWL Skatepark and come out to enjoy traffic-free roads as you run-or-walk through charming Greenwood Lake, NY.
